Members should make their own bookings directly with the ferry operators. There is a LROC Group discount in effect. Call 07 3909 3333 ask too speak with Jasmin who is co-ordinating our group booking, and receive a 10% discount. Return travel per vehicle will thus be reduced from $230 to $207 for a vehicle with 2 passengers. Family bookings are also available. Travel to Comboyuro Point
When leaving the ferry, turn left and head north along the western/bayside beach. Bit of a slog but beach is still passable at high tide. Distance to travel is ~12km. Campground entrance is just past the Bulwer wrecks. Obey speed limits and drink driving provisions as police will no doubt be active on the island over this weekend.
CAUTION: Be cautious at creek crossings especially either side of high tide. NB: Beach is closed to all vehicles at Cowan Cowan. Head inland and follow the Cowan Cowan Bypass that goes around behind this township. UNSURE ? : Let Trip Leader know yr barge arrival time & I'll be at the barge to meet you. On the western/bayside of the island the camp site offers shaded camping with access for tent & trailer camping. Key features: - close to township of Bulwer for supplies - flushing toilets - cold showers - open fires allowed (need to bring own wood) - only metres from the beach - no pets - no generators NB: The bayside of the island does offer shelter in the event of storms but the downside are insects especially mosquitoes. Pls ensure you bring repellant. Club members can arrive on the Friday throughout the day as ferry bookings and their personal & work circumstances allow. Trip leader is booked on a 6:00 AM ferry 21.04.14 and will be onsite from 8:30AM Camping Fees $5.60 per nite per person over 18 , or $22.40 per nite for a family of 4 (children under 18). Camping Fees are paid to the club.
