Trip Grades

The Club uses a grading system for our trips to help you to understand the potential driving difficulty.  The grades are:

Scenic:  Suitable for all drivers from novice to experienced.  Driving will be mainly in high range but may require low range at times.  Road surfaces may be sealed or unsealed with minor gradients but without obstacles.

Easy:  Suitable for all drivers from novice to experienced.  Driving will be mainly in high range but may require low range at times.  Unsealed roads may be steep, sandy, rocky or slippery.  There may be shallow water crossings.

Hard:  Some 4WD off-road driving experience and basic training is recommended.  Unsealed roads and tracks with steep, sandy, rocky or slippery conditions will be experienced.  There may be water crossings.  All terrain tyres are recommended.

Extreme:  For experienced drivers who have completed advanced off-road training.  Unsealed roads and tracks with frequent very steep, sandy, rocky or slippery conditions will be experienced.  May have difficult sections that require high clearance and mud tyres.  There may be difficult deep water crossings.  Vehicles need to be set up for extreme conditions.

Changes in the weather can have a significant bearing on the track conditions. What starts out as Scenic or Easy could change to Hard.  Be assured that no-one is pressurised into driving beyond their capabilities and there's always plenty of help to be given when needed.
