Take a Trip to see the Stars
Join us and travel to the sleepy town of Maidenwell near Nanango and the Bunya Mts.
Thanks to Glenn, Paul and Gav for doing the recce on Sunday up near Yarraman to see what the roads and tracks are like. We have come up with the final itinerary, please see below for more detail.
Saturday morning, we will be heading up to Maidenwell for a scenic tour via Linville and Nanango. It is a good bitumen/gravel road that crosses the head of the Brisbane River many times. The crossings are well formed and there should be no issue for those towing a caravan or camper trailer.
We will be arriving at Maidenwell around Lunch time to set up camp. Saturday afternoon can be a relaxing afternoon at the camp or there is an option to explore the local area, wineries and water falls if people so desire. Take it at your own pace.
Saturday nights evening is at the Maidenwell pub and observatory. Due to the numbers attending the show, there will be 2 showings. 7pm to 8.30pm and 8.30pm to 10pm. If you have children attending, please be sure to attend the earlier showing.
We are staying on the local sports field, a very short walk to the local pub and observatory. There will be a pig on the spit at the local pub and it costs around $14 per person. Toilet and shower facilities are at the camp site and the showers operate on $2 coins.
Sunday, after packing up camp, for those who are interested, the group will be heading home via Old Yarraman Road. This track is heavily rutted and there are some interesting rough sections and creek crossings. This road is NOT suited for caravans. 4wd’s and heavy duty off-road camper trailers should be fine.
Maidenwell Itinerary 29th to 30th June
Saturday
8.00am - Arrive at Caboolture BP
8.30am - Depart for Maidenwell via Linville and Nanango
(Please don’t be late as we will be leaving 8.30am sharp)
12.00pm - Arrive at Maidenwell and set up camp
1.30pm - Relax or explore the local area
5.00pm - Dinner
7.00pm - Star Show at the Observatory
8.30pm - Late Star Show
Sunday
7.00 am - Breakfast
9.00 am - Leaving for Yarraman and home via Nanango and Old Yarraman Road
